An entry for the GMTK Jam 2019, theme: "Only One"

Controls:

  • Look around by moving the mouse
  • Left-click on a purple minion to switch places
  • Right-click and hold on a minion to control them
  • Move controlled minions with WASD
  • Walk over red buttons to activate them

Summary:

My idea for the theme was a mechanic in which the player character is the only camera/viewpoint, and the game is about passing said camera between controllable minions. The player is supposed to be this brain squid thing that control anything in their line of sight, but will need to strategically position their pawns so that they can make it to the end goal. 

In the end, i ran short on time. I implemented the core of the game mechanics, but didn't have time to create any kind of meaningful levels. Hopefully what i have here demonstrates the mechanics well enough.


Please watch the walkthrough above if you get stuck. Unfortunately, there are a number of ways to softlock the game currently. Try not to walk off any ledges.

All assets and code, including 3D models and animations were created in the 48 hours of the competition.
